Judith I Denton

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Van Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery on Williamsburg Hill, Lakewood, IL. Memorials may be given to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois for the Patient Services Department.
Judi was born on January 3, 1951 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Melvin and Goldie Smith Miller. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1969 and was the Valedictorian of her class. Judi worked for several businesses in Shelbyville including the Donut Shop, Reider’s Café, Sale Barn Restaurant and QIK-N-EZ and later for Huck’s in Mt. Zion. She was an avid gardener and was fond of dogs. She married Rudy Smith on August 1, 1969. She later married Paul Dean Denton on September 2, 1988 in St. Louis, MO. He died on July 30, 2013.
She is survived by her son, Rudy Smith, Jr. and wife Kristia of Stewardson, IL; daughter, Heidi Nees of Tower Hill, IL; seven grandchildren, Jori Nees, Kody Nees, Lacey Spencer, Jake Spencer, Cody Friese, Whitney Smith and Kassidy Smith; four great grandchildren, Aaron Nees, Khloe Beck, Malakye Nees and due in November is Ryu Nees; brothers, Donald Miller and wife Shirley of Woodland, WA and Jim Miller and wife Sandy of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Ruby Nohren of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Martha Miller of Cowden, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Denton; brother, Ed Miller; brother-in-law, Robert M. Nohren; and nephew, Jack Miller.
