Kenneth Gale “Slim” Harmon, 83, of Shelbyville, formerly of Strasburg, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2006 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice.

Mr. Harmon was born on February 26, 1923 in Forreston, IL, the son of C. Wilbert and Frieda Ruwe Harmon. He was a graduate of Strasburg High School in the Class of 1941. He then graduated from Decatur Barber College and was a barber in Shelbyville for over 40 years. He was confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville. Slim was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Surviving are his sister, Ethel Hubbartt of Mattoon; sister-in-law, Laura Harmon of Effingham; four nieces; two nephews; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Charles Wilbert Harmon.
