Kenneth H Hopkins

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Brother Wayne Polk officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to United Cerebral Palsy.
Mr. Hopkins was born on February 22, 1926 in Fancher, Illinois, the son of Selby and Fannie DeBolt Hopkins. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. He worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou in Shelbyville until his retirement. His second career and passion was gathering Ginseng, Goldenseal and many other plants and herbs. Kenneth was an Elder for many years at the Church of Christ in Shelbyville. He enjoyed being with his family and especially playing with his grandkids and great grandkids, spending time in the woods and fishing. He married Clara Reynolds on July 2, 1950.
Surviving are his wife, Clara; son, Harold Hopkins and wife Cindy of Danville; daughters, Kay Davis and husband Steve of East Galesburg and Judy Retz and husband Jeff of Lizton, IN; brother, Dale Hopkins of Brumbley, MO; sisters, Retha Townsend, Gene Arganbright and June Edwards Norfleet and husband Bob all of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Sylvia S. (Bivins) Wheat Hopkins; sister, Alvena Childress; and step-sister, Fern Ellen Page.
