Larry Dean Lading, 68, of Strasburg, IL, died at 10:47 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Strasburg Community Improvement Fund.

Mr. Lading was born on April 28, 1944 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Ralph and Mary Margaret (Leathers) Lading. He was a 1962 graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg High School. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston in 1966 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1965-1971. In 1967, Larry joined Marathon Oil Company as a Sales Representative in Indianapolis, IN. After three years with Marathon, he joined Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, IN as an Account Manager. Following Cummins, he worked for Cargill, Inc. for twelve years and then retired in 2004 from Distributors Processing, Inc. as President and CEO. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg and was actively involved with the Strasburg Community Foundation organization.

Larry married Jean (Niemerg) Jansen on April 30, 1999. They enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Jean; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mark Ampuja of Auburn, NH; granddaughter, Faith Marie Ampuja of Auburn, New Hampshire; sisters, Connie Searl and husband Sanford of Argenta, IL and Kay Halford of Effingham, IL; mother-in-law, Janice Niemerg of Teutopolis, IL; along with many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn (Fatzinger) Lading; nephew, Jeffrey Searl; brother-in-law, Larry Halford; and father-in-law, Leonard Niemerg.
