Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 in the Strasburg United Methodist Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Burial will be in Gaskill Cemetery, near Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham, IL for patient care services.
Larry was born on January 25, 1960 in Shelbyville, IL. He is the son of Ervin R. and Evelyn M. Kessler Reel. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1978. Larry began working at Martin’s IGA in Effingham, IL. He later owned and operated the Union 76 Service Station in Stewardson, IL, before working at Fedder’s in Effingham, IL. Larry then worked for 29 years at International Paper in Shelbyville, IL. He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels cars, train sets and Coca-Cola and Barbie memorabilia. Larry loved Elvis music, mowing and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended the Strasburg United Methodist Church. Larry married Deborah Ann Mose on March 22, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Angela Edwards and husband Jason of Strasburg, IL, Regina Shafer and husband Jeremy of Stewardson, IL, Renea Bowers and husband Brendon of Strasburg, IL and Bridget (Reel) Polk of Effingham, IL; step-children, Stephanie Mose of Strasburg, IL, Anthony Plough of Charleston, IL and Cassie Calhoun and husband Zac of Mattoon, IL; half-sister, Paula Crays of Nokomis, IL; step-sister, Arlene Lambert of Cumming, GA; three grandchildren, Jasmine Shafer, Hayden Bowers and Jo Anna Bowers; two step-grandchildren, Cyrus and Jonah Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-sister, Imogene Pfeiffer.
