Laura A Rentfrow

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville with Father Don Wolford officiating. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in the church with prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville.

Laura was born on March 14, 1950 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Walter Karl and Lois Elizabeth Martin Sowa. She was a graduate of Mt. Zion High School in the Class of 1968 and Lakeland College. Laura worked for twenty years as a title one caregiver at Shelby County Community Services and retired as a teacher’s aide at Head Start in Shelbyville. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville and was a Dominican Associate of Springfield, IL. Laura married John Roger Rentfrow on October 6, 1989.

Surviving are her husband, John; son, Tyler W. Nottingham (Michelle) of Blue Mound, IL; daughter, Tracy R. Barnes (Teddi) of Shelbyville, IL; step-sons, Dr. Gregg K. Rentfrow (Sheila) of Lexington, KY and John Travis Rentfrow (Georgia) of Cerro Gordo, IL; brothers, Stanley T. Sowa (Geaneen) of Decatur, IL and John M. Sowa (Judy) of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Teresa L. Ryan (Michael) of Salt Lake City, UT and Diane E. Rueff (Harold) of Shelbyville, IL; father-in-law, Roland C. Rentfrow of Neoga, IL; and nine grandchildren, Matthew Sievers, Nikki Barnes, Tayla Sievers, Savannah Barnes, Brittany Nease, Brandon Nease, Tiffany Reed, Brian Reed and Brooke Elizabeth Rentfrow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and mother-in-law, Emily Rentfrow.
