Laura Ann Tomaszewski , 66, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Father John Titus as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals.

Laura was born on August 25, 1957 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Andrew and Rosemary (Drzewiecki) Tomaszewski. She graduated from Hubbard High School, Chicago, IL in the Class of 1975, and DePaul University in 1984.  Laura was the Technical Director of Echocardiography at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center in Mattoon, IL, where she worked for 30 years, retiring in November of 2022. Laura raised Border Collies and was involved in the Land of Lincoln Border Collie Association. She enjoyed attending and participating in Sheepdog trials, scent work, dock diving, and dog agility training. Laura assisted with the local dog obedience training through Shelby County 4-H and also enjoyed raising sheep.

Laura is survived by her sister, Annette Tomaszewski of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Mark Tomaszewski of Tower Hill, IL; nephews, Brock and Blake Hammond of Shelbyville, IL; and niece, Roxanne Hammond of Shelbyville, IL; her beloved Border Collies, Micah, Ziva, Pete, Piper, and Ben; and her African Gray Parrot, Zeus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and nephews, Mitchell and Matthew Hammond.
