Laura Elizabeth “Betty” Harmon, 82, of Effingham, formerly of Strasburg, died at 2:08 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007 in her residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Inurnment will follow in Ash Grove Cemetery, Windsor, Illinois. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Laura was born on February 28, 1925 in Windsor, Illinois, the daughter of Jasper C. and Mary Bernice Clawson Osterday. She graduated from Windsor High School in the Class of 1943. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Strasburg. She married Charles W. Harmon on February 27, 1949. He died on March 16, 2005.

Surviving are her sons, John S. Harmon and special friend Debra Cordes of Sigel and Dan’l Harmon and partner Mauricio Guerrero of New York, NY; daughters, Mary Klein and husband Clifford of Effingham and Patricia McMillan and husband Bill of Casey; brother, Roger Osterday of Toledo; sister, Marilyn Harris of Windsor; sisters-in-law, Ethel Hubbartt of Mattoon and Louise Osterday of Bellevue, WA; grandchildren, Jordan McMillan and fiancé Kate of Terre Haute, IN and Jennifer Latch and husband Troy of Effingham; great grandchildren, Macey and Preston Latch of Effingham; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; two half-sisters; one half-brother; brother-in-law, Kenneth “Slim” Harmon; and sister-in-law, Doris Osterday.

She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
