Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Nadine Preston officiating. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Clarksburg, Illinois. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Compton was born on July 1, 1926 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Henry A. and Martha J. Wilson Owens. She was a member of the Mode United Methodist Church. She married Royce Compton on November 18, 1945.
Surviving are her husband, Royce; sons, Alan Compton (Jill) of Bloomington, Illinois and Glen Compton (Marlene) of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; daughter Donna Howard (Bill) of Shelbyville; sister, Marilyn Underwood of Long Creek, Illinois; five grandchildren, Aaron Compton, Ashley Compton, Laura Lampert, Blake Compton and Courtney Compton; and three great grandchildren, Nolan Lampert, Jaden Compton, and Asher Compton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Martha Owens; and brother, Jim Owens.
