Lawrence Raymond Gordon, 85, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 in the Lakeside Addition of Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Howard Sallee officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.

Mr. Gordon was born on March 10, 1927 in Shelby County, IL, the son of Lemuel Sylvester and Anna Mae Wood Gordon. Lawrence Ray was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in Germany. When he returned from the service, he worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville as a field engineer. Lawrence Ray then worked for P & H Manufacturing in Shelbyville, where he was a field engineer and later the plant manager. He served as a Deputy Sheriff in Shelby County for several years and also was a disaster volunteer for the American Red Cross. He attended Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville and was a member of V.F.W. Post #4829, Eagles Lodge #4395 and Shelby County Senior Center all in Shelbyville. He married Delores O. Wallace on February 17, 1950. She died on January 6, 1997.

He is survived by his beloved friend, Lorraine Galvin of Shelbyville; son, Jeff Gordon and wife Linda of Shelbyville; sisters, Mary Endsley and Marie Ross both of Shelbyville and Rita Mathis and husband Carl of Henton; grandchildren, Sarah, Lori, Derrick and Darrin; step-grandchildren, Crystal and Chris; great grandchildren, Klayton, Karter, Reece, Bryce and Jackson; step-great grandchildren, Greyson, Rowyn and Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores; brothers, Alva, Tom and Noble Gordon; and sisters, Ruth Guston and Olive Reynolds.
