Leonard D. Woods, 78, of Shelbyville, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday with Masonic rites at 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville or Lincolnland Hospice.

Mr. Woods was born on December 15, 1928 in Shelby County, Illinois, the son of Ralph D. and Maude B. Williams Woods. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Caterpillar in Joliet, Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville, Marvel Schebler in Decatur, Jerpbak-Bayless in Ohio and owned and operated Shelby Steel and Wood Products in Shelbyville. Leonard was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, where he was Elder Emeritus and Past Board Chairman. He was a lifetime member and Past Master of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53, member and Past Worthy Patron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #69 and life member of V.F.W. Post #4829 all of Shelbyville. He married Dorothy Eileen Graven on July 30, 1950. She died on August 21, 2006.

Surviving are his sons, Robert L. Woods of Springfield and Dennis W. Woods and wife Cheryl of Shelbyville; daughter, Bonnie Woods of Shelbyville; brothers, Kenneth Woods and wife Veda and Dean Woods all of Shelbyville; sister, Barbara Phelps of Shelbyville; half-sisters, Dorothy Bly and Margaret Long and husband Gregg all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Eric “Bud” Woods, Justin Woods, Ashley Woods, Tracey Lynn Hall and Sarah Eileen Martz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Illinois and Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; parents; infant son, Leonard Allen Woods in 1951; brother, Gene Woods; half-brother, Dale Woods; and an infant half-sister, Rita Woods.
