Lester E. “Les Mo” Blain, 65, of Shelbyville, formerly of Vandalia, died at 5:50 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2007 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Donald Pease officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Mr. Blain was born on September 1, 1942 in Alton, IL, the son of James Edward and Retha Ivadale Swafford Blain. Lester worked for the City of Shelbyville Street Department for 16 years and was a member of Labor Union Local 1265 and Operating Engineers Local 965 for a total of 33 years. He married Judy Napier on December 27, 2005 in Shelbyville.

Surviving are his wife, Judy; daughter, Angela Stagner and her friend Spencer Mason of Vandalia; step-daughters, Patty Jane Woods and husband Grant of Shelbyville, Farrell L. Griffin of Parkersburg, WV and Tina Austin of Evansville, IN; step-son, Everett Hale of Anchorage, AK; brothers, David Blain and wife Kathy of Vandalia and Vernon Blain and wife Fay of Hillsboro; sisters, Deloris Tish and husband Dean and Brenda Cox and husband Jerry all of Decatur; grandsons, B.J. Tedrick, Jeff Tedrick, Aaron Stagner and Brandon Stagner; step-grandchildren, Jamie Sharp, Kim Endsley, Tafi Davis, Mandy and Courtney Buchanan, Devin Griffin and Caleb Austin; and great granddaughter, Alexandria Grace Stagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna Hall; grandson, Mathew Wayne Tedrick.

Lester was a big hearted, kind person that would do anything for anybody.
