A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. There will be a time of fellowship immediately following the memorial service in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL on Thursday. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL.
Mrs. Wittenberg was born on November 25, 1920 in Strasburg, IL, the daughter of Hugo Paul and Anna Maria Rincker Wirth. She graduated from Strasburg High School in the Class of 1938. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg and Ladies Aid of the church. She married Clarence Wittenberg on November 10, 1940. He died on August 9, 1991.
Surviving are her daughter, Vivian Granat and husband John of Strasburg; and granddaughters, Debra Granat of Plainfield, IL and Traci Wittenberg of Claremont, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; son, Jimmie Wittenberg on November 16, 2004; and two brothers, Olin and Norman Wirth.
