Lillian H Lenz

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Sunday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Strasburg. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Ladies Aid, St. Paul Cemetery Fund or donor’s choice.
Mrs. Lenz was born on December 19, 1912 in Stewardson, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Maggie Whitmire Klepzig. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, where she was active in Ladies Aid and the church choir. She was also a member of Shelby County Home Extension and Jolly Neighbors Club. Lillian was a 4-H leader and served on the election board for many years. She married Martin Lenz on January 15, 1933. He died on March 31, 1998.
Surviving are her daughters, Bertha Kessler of Alexandria, LA and Neva Hagan and husband Ken of Strasburg; brothers, Delbert Klepzig and wife Goldie of Decatur and Ben Klepzig and wife Burnette of Round Rock, TX; sister, Maggie Eckert of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Debbie Ortiz, Mike Kessler and David, Steven and Ronnie Spurgeon; step-grandchildren, Craig Hagan and Tricia Lauger; great grandchildren, Amy Lange, Ryan Ortiz and Joshua Kessler; seven step-great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; son, Melvin Lenz; son-in-law, Ed Kessler; brothers, Joe, Louie and Tony Klepzig; and sisters, Jennie Shafer and Martha Klepzig.
