Linda M. (Shride) Wiandt, 68, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 6:18 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Robert Turner officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to The Global Fibrosis Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, Pregnancy Resource Center or Shelby Humane Society.

Mrs. Wiandt was born on April 8, 1943 in Tower Hill, IL, the daughter of John Robert and Frances Josephine Barker Shride. Linda graduated from Cowden High School in the Class of 1961 and received her Associates Degree from Lakeland College. She worked for Selock’s Five and Dollar Store and Dog n Suds both in Shelbyville, Mallory’s in Pana, Bogart’s Optical in Shelbyville and retired from C.E.F.S. in Shelbyville on September 1, 2010 as a Social Services Assistant. Linda was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville and was active in Twilighters, Pencil Pal Program, Pregnancy Resource Center and Shelby Humane Society. She married Joseph Waldo Wiandt on May 21, 1966. He died on September 28, 2005.

Surviving are her children, Julia Askins of Shelbyville, Mike Wiandt of Phoenix AZ, and Rachel Wiandt and fiancé Michael Gush of Chicago; sister, Joyce Forsythe and husband Jim of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Tonya and Tony Askins and Todd Wiandt; nieces and nephews, Gail Ann Cole, Debbie Graven and Jake, Jack and Josh Forsythe; and several great nieces and nephews including, Cody Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Waldo; daughter-in-law, Shirley Wiandt; sister, Nancy Cole; and nephew, Lanny Cole.
