Linda Sue Griesemer , 74, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Allendale, IL, passed away at 10:22 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Shelbyville First United Methodist Church, 205 W. Main Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, IL and from 9:30-10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Shelbyville First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville First United Methodist Church – Sound System Fund or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Linda was born on April 4, 1948 in Lukin Township, Lawrence County, IL the daughter of Ivan and Marjorie Jane (Howe) Hair. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in the Class of 1966. Linda married Vernon Ray Griesemer on September 25, 1966 in Lawrence County, IL, and they were married for 54 years.  Linda touched the lives of many through her work supporting the medical practice of Dr. Larry Herron in Lawrenceville for more than 20 years. She later worked at medical offices and hospitals in Lawrence and Wabash Counties.

She is survived by her son, Michael Ray Griesemer (Wendy) of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Susan Griesemer Murphy (John) of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Brice Griesemer (Janie), Monica Griesemer, Kathleen Yeager (Scott), Todd Wittler, Patrick Murphy and Jacqueline Murphy; great grandchildren, Hallie and Henry Griesemer, and Chloe Yeager; and sisters, Brenda Weiler of Lawrenceville, IL and Marie Smith of Bridgeport, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on March 17, 2020; and sister, Marylin Kocher.
