Lois Kathleen (Banning) Jones, 78, of Cowden, Illinois, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 in the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Cowden Free Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Carroll officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Cowden Free Methodist Church, First Responders, Cowden or Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

Mrs. Jones was born on June 15, 1930 in Cowden, Illinois, the daughter of Fred Lloyd and Maud Myrtle Banning Banning. She graduated from Cowden High School in the Class of 1948. Lois was the Postmaster of Lakewood, Illinois until her retirement and was affiliated with the Cowden Free Methodist Church. She married Cecil Edward “Ed” Jones on June 20, 1948. He died on June 14, 2005.

Surviving are her son, Daniel Jones and wife Stacey of Cowden; daughters, Sherry Holley and husband Steve of Cowden, Judy Dunaway and husband Mac of Decatur, and Sandy Roadarmel and husband Larry of Beecher City; sister, Sis Randall of Beecher City; eight grandchildren, Jeff Holley and friend Kathie Koontz, Aaron Holley and wife Renia, Tammy Kimberly and husband Chad, Kim Johnson and husband Josh, Amy Plinskey and husband Michael, Lee Roadarmel and wife Jessica, Jennifer Underwood and husband Ty, and Ashley Jones and fiancé Josh Dunaway; two step-grandchildren, Brandie McCoy and husband Josh and Rachel Barrix; eight great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed; and two brothers, Lonnie Banning and Rayburn Banning.
