Lois Lucille McDonald, 95, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Lois was born on August 10, 1925 in Mt. Zion, IL, the daughter of William Gerald and Mary Elizabeth (Dennis) Smith. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1944. Lois worked at Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. during the war and then was a nurse’s aid at Shelby Memorial Hospital for many years.  She later was a store clerk at Highland’s V & S in Shelbyville.  Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville and a former member of the Villas of Holly Brook Kitchen Band.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her flowers and plants. She married Robert Rodell “Bob” McDonald on October 17, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2008.

Lois is survived by her son, Richard “Dick” McDonald and wife Tori of Camanche, IA; son-in-law, Jerry Turner of Shelbyville; granddaughters, Beth Ann McDonald-Tope and husband Shawn of Shelbyville, Michelle Heidel and husband Brian of Mt. Zion, Chloe Vance and husband Nick of Antioch, TN, and Lia McDonald of Fulton, IL; grandsons, Andy McDonald and wife Jamie of Shelbyville and Matt Turner and wife Sydne of Clinton; 10 great grandchildren, Taylor, Jhett, Gracey, Gradey, Drue, Drake, Kylee, Claire, Abigail, and Lucille; two great great grandchildren, Kayden and Reyna; sister, Patricia Scott (Wynn) of Bradford, IL; and brother, William “Bill” Smith of Tower Hill, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Michael Robert McDonald in 2005; daughter, Diana Jane Turner in 2008; and sister, Mary Emedine.
