Lola R Venters

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor John Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services on Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Community Fellowship, Shelbyville, IL.
Mrs. Venters was born on November 18, 1936 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Otis and Eva Pfeiffer Powers. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1954. Lola worked for the Illinois Glove Factory in Effingham, Mattoon Garment Factory and retired from the Shelbyville Manor, where she worked in the kitchen. She was baptized in St. John’s Lutheran Church near Shelbyville and attended Cornerstone Community Fellowship in Shelbyville. She married Donald Hiram Venters, Sr. on December 16, 1956. He died on December 1, 2003.
She is survived by her son, Donald Hiram Venters, Jr. of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Debra Ann MacGregor and husband Steve of Marion, IL, Janet Sue Yakey and husband Sherman of Strasburg, IL and Jonah Marie Barnhart of Aberdeen, MD; brother, Darrell Powers and wife Eileen of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Darlene Helton and husband Joe of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Roberta Powers of Shelbyville, IL; four grandchildren, Travis and Trevor Barnhart and Andrew and Anna Yakey; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Leland Powers and one in infancy; and sister, Jewel Isley and husband Elbert.
