Louis J Satterfield

In keeping with Louis’s wishes, a private graveside service was held in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Rev. Mark Sanders officiated at the service. Arrangements were by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Harbor Light Hospice or the Illinois English Bulldog Rescue.
Mr. Satterfield was born on May 26, 1934 in Salem, Arkansas, the son of Isaac Munroe and Bertha Warren Satterfield. He was a union steelworker, working for Alumax-Alcoa in St. Charles, IL, until his retirement in 1999. Louis enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid fisherman and fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Louis was proud to be the great great great grandson of a Revolutionary War veteran, the great great grandson of a War of 1812 veteran and the great grandson of a Confederate Civil War veteran. He married Phyllis Ann Ayersman on July 12, 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Thomas Satterfield (Rose) of Ewing, IL and Daniel Satterfield (Dawn) of Tennessee; daughters, Karen Satterfield of Shelbyville, IL and Diane Bester of Plano, IL; seven grandchildren, Adam Satterfield, Barbara Travis (Bob), Alex Satterfield (Jaime), Anne Frederick (Joe), Jennifer Satterfield, Jessica Satterfield, and Matthew Soria; 19 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Margaret Soria; four brothers; and four sisters.
