Louise West

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be held at Glenwood Cemetery Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, IL.
Louise was born on September 17, 1920 in Clarksburg, IL, the daughter of Menzo and Bethel (Barker) Mars. She attended Shelbyville High School and went on to graduate from beauty school. She worked as a beautician for Bill Miller in Shelbyville, was a cook at the Shelbyville Grade School, ran the Dog N Suds in Shelbyville, IL and was the hostess for the Lake Lawn Inn in Pana, IL. Louise loved playing the piano. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, IL for over 50 years and was a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau. Louise married Carl West on April 14, 1938. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1949.
She is survived by her brother, Menzo Eugene “Gene” Mars of Shelbyville, IL; and grandchildren, Scott West (Lynn), Linda Miller (Kevin), Andrew West (Stacey), Elizabeth McCormack (Michael) and Ben West (Sara).
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; sons, Perry and Roger West; and brothers, Harold and Jack Mars.
