Luda Hardy-Bailey, 98, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, was promoted to her heavenly home at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Camp Wilson Foursquare Church, Harristown, IL with Rev. Brian Canaday officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will follow in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest memorials to Camp Wilson Foursquare Church.

Luda was born on January 1, 1918 in Eli, Kentucky, the daughter of David and Ida (Upton) Gadberry. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Luda was a member of Camp Wilson Foursquare Church in Harristown, IL.

Luda married Kenneth Hardy in St. Louis, MO, on December 10, 1938. They were blessed with two children, William David Hardy (Cheryl) and Sharon Trudeau, both of Decatur, IL; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Mr. Hardy passed away on May 18, 1972.

On June 3, 1973, Luda married James E. Bailey in Decatur, IL. Luda’s family grew to include two step-children, James H. Bailey (Linda) of Sullivan, IL and Evalene Shackleford (Ron) of Rosenberg, TX; seven step-grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; and 16 step-great great grandchildren. Mr. Bailey preceded her in death on January 7, 2002.

Mrs. Hardy-Bailey was preceded in death by her parents; both spouses; nine brothers; and three sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fair Havens Christian Home and Dr. DiMondo for their excellent care of our precious Mother. Special thanks to Rev. Canaday for his many, many visits with her.
