Lyle B. Gaddis, 78, of Shelbyville, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Wayne Polk officiating. Visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. by Jackson Masonic Lodge #53. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Gaddis was born on August 31, 1933 in Windsor Twp. of Shelby County, IL, the son of Thomas A. and Alta Mae Himes Gaddis. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1951 and entered the U. S. Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict. In 1959, Lyle graduated from Sparks Business College and started Gaddis Insurance Agency and Tax Service in Shelbyville. He also owned and operated Race O’Rama in Shelbyville. Lyle was a member of South Second Street Church of Christ, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81, member and former Quartermaster of V.F.W. Post # 4829, charter member of the Shelby County Rescue Squad and a member and Past Master of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 all in Shelbyville. He earned his Master Mason Degree in 1986. Lyle enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing cards. He married Shirley A. Boarman on May 25, 1957.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Mike Gaddis (Carol) of Shelbyville, Jane Kojeski (John) of Denham Springs, LA, Ron Gaddis (Joyce) of Shelbyville and Jeff Gaddis (Nicole) of Rapid City, SD; sister, Doris Faulkner of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Delores Gaddis Crutcher (Elwood) of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kristin Gaddis, Bryan Gaddis, Kathy Flattmann (Greg), Kevin Kojeski, Jake Kojeski, Brock Gaddis (Jerilee), Doug Gaddis, Angela Gaddis and Ashley Gaddis; and great grandchildren, Emma Flattmann, Dylan Gaddis, Casey Gaddis and Brody Gaddis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell Gaddis; sister, Darlene Gaddis; and brother-in-law, David Faulkner.
