M. Kathleen "Kathy" Butler

M. Kathleen “Kathy” Butler, 64, of Sullivan, IL, passed away at 11:06 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL, surrounded by her family. 

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, a graveside service for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Humboldt Township Cemetery, Humboldt, IL, with Rev. Bud Hance officiating. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. To honor Kathy’s love for animals, memorials may be given to the Coles County Animal Shelter and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL, 62565. 

Kathy was born on March 25, 1960, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Robert Jay and Mildred Louise (Osborn) Miller. She attended Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1978. She met Randall W. Butler at the Nazarene Church in Shelbyville, IL, and they were married on April 14, 1978. Kathy enjoyed going shopping, spending time with her family, and loving on her pets. 

Kathy is survived by her husband, Randy; mother, Mildred Miller of Shelbyville, IL; son, Jeremy Butler and wife Megan of Mattoon, IL; daughters, Elizabeth Ruge and husband Al of Mattoon, IL, and Sarah Gentry and husband Mike of Bethany, IL; sister, Tina Tripp and husband Steve of Sullivan, IL; brothers, Randy Miller and wife Cathy of Taylorville, IL and Charles Miller of Jefferson City, MO; six grandchildren, Brayden and Owen Butler, Jon and Hannah Gentry, Aden Butler, and Connor Ruge; and her beloved dog, Oreo. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Jay Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Jean Butler; and sister-in-law, Deb Miller.
