Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
Mrs. Gatton was born on August 2, 1940 in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of Everett Glenn and Frances Marian Bodell Stewardson. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1958. She married James L. Gatton on February 15, 1959 in San Antonio, TX.
Surviving are her husband; son, Sgt. William J. Gatton and wife Anna serving in the U. S. Army at Ft. Campbell, KY; daughters, Debbie Sparr and Karen Adams both of Mattoon; brother, Douglas Stewardson and wife Ginny of Springfield; sister, Emily Gatton and husband David “Bub” of Chatham; two grandsons, Christopher and Brian Sparr of Mattoon; two granddaughters, Stephanie Adams of Independence, MO and Jennifer Adams of Mattoon; and one great granddaughter, Lexis Adams of Independence, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
