Margie Marie Root , 93, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Margie was born on July 2, 1930 in Lawrenceville, IL, the daughter of Ford Triplett and Nannia Myrtle (Chapin) May. She married Leo Thomas Fulton, and they had two sons, Thomas “Tom” and William “Bill” Fulton.  Margie loved animals and found homes for hundreds of cats and dogs over the years. She enjoyed listening to John Denver, Elvis Presley, and Christian music.  Margie was proud to have written and published a song in 1958 titled, “All I Owe To Thee”. Margie enjoyed watching the news, watching Christian television on TBN, and spending time with her family.

Margie is survived by her sons, Tom Fulton and wife Kristie of Shelbyville, IL, and Bill Fulton of Shelbyville, IL; one brother, Frank May of Lawrenceville, IL; and four grandchildren, Eric Fulton, Whitney Fulton, Allison Evans (Billy), and Natalie Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Thomas Fulton on February 23, 1971; brothers, Charles, Harry and Carl; and sisters, Betty, Dorothy and Wanda.

No services will be held at this time. Burial will be at a later date in Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
