Marjorie I. “Margie” Leming, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Garden Court, Shelbyville Manor.

A visitation will be held from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, followed by a private graveside service in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Rev. Linda Trent will officiate. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.

Margie was born on April 30, 1924, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (West) Baird.

On June 11, 1942, Margie married Walter Christopher “Chris” Leming, Jr. While he was away serving in Europe in World War II, Margie worked at the Sta-Rite factory in Shelbyville and also at Vaughn’s Restaurant on the Square. Later in life, she worked at the Shelbyville Restorium, Eisner’s Supermarket, in the laboratory at Shelby Memorial Hospital, and finally as manager of the Marine Service Station on West Main Street in Shelbyville, IL. She was a member of Fourth Street United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL.

She is survived by her son, Gary Leming and wife Kate of Ashland, IL and daughter, Linda Leinster and husband Les of Dublin, Ireland. Also surviving are granddaughter, Julie Leming Ambrose and great granddaughters, Bailey and Ryann Ambrose all of Shelbyville, IL; grandson, Shane Leinster and wife Lisa, and great granddaughters, Muirenn and Aislinn all of Seattle, WA; and grandson, Mark Leinster and wife Paddi, and great granddaughter, Beth and great grandson Bobby all of Bray, Ireland; brother, Bill Baird and wife Roma of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Peggy Huber of Shelbyville, IL; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chris on May 25, 1992; granddaughter, Sara Leinster; and niece, Sonja (Baird) Butler.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Garden Court, Shelbyville Manor, for the wonderful care given to Margie during her final months.
