Marlene S. Compton

Marlene Sue Compton, 71, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Darin Hansen officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals. 

Marlene was born on August 18, 1953, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Jones) Creath. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1971. Marlene married Glen E. Compton on May 1, 1971, and they were blessed with two children, Blake and Courtney. Marlene worked for Love Inc. in Zion, IL for many years. In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed training dogs and spending time in her garden. She was a member of New Hope Church in Shelbyville, IL. 

Marlene is survived by her husband, Glen; son, Blake Compton and wife Elizabeth of Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Courtney Ward and husband Ben of Lindenhurst, IL; brother, Gary Creath and wife Jeanie of Washington, MO; brothers-in-law, Alan Compton of Bloomington, IL and Bill Howard of Shelbyville, IL; and five grandchildren, Malcolm and Zephyr Compton both of Milwaukee, WI; and Ellie, Lucy and Sophia Ward, all of Lindenhurst, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Donna Howard.
