Mary E. Haworth, 89, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Heartland Christian Village, Neoga, IL.

A memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, IL.

Mary was born on August 29, 1928 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Hugh M. and Clara Ruch Wortman. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1946. Mary worked for many years at General Electric in Mattoon, IL. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, IL and was a 70 year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #69 of Shelbyville, IL. She married Kleon “K” Haworth, Jr. on July 21, 1946. He died on June 4, 2007.

She is survived by her sons, James Haworth and wife Melissa of Bourbonnais, IL and Gary Haworth of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Penny Jiter and husband Brad of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Richard Wortman of Shelbyville, IL; six grandchildren, Chism, Kyle, Derek and Tara Haworth and Brady and Whit Jiter; and four great grandchildren, Rozelle Haworth and Ethan, Owen and Miles Jiter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Norman and Loren Wortman; and two sisters, Susan Eileen Bleyer and Nancy Mowry.
