Mary Winnefred Douthit Corley, 99, of Shelbyville, died at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (December 5, 2006) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, 415 Broadway, Shelbyville, with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Friday with Eastern Star rites at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 203 W. Main Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
Mary Corley was born in Shelbyville, on September 28, 1907, the daughter of Jasper Elmer Douthit and Theoda Pearl Walden Douthit. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1926. She married Clarence William Corley of Shelbyville on July 27, 1929. Clarence preceded Mary in death, Sept 13, 1999.
Mary was a member of the Kum Dubble Class of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Methodist Church Women. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of Amaranth and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Mary was the Dental Assistant for Dr. N. D. Boys for over thirty years. She also was a Founding Member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are son, W. Gene Corley and wife Lynd Wertheim Corley of Glenview, IL; grandchildren, David Daugherty and wife Gayle of Castle Rock, CO, Debra Brizee and husband Mike of Grand Junction, CO, Dennis Daugherty and wife Kathe of Duluth, MN, Anne Baum and husband Bradley of Bethlehem, PA, Robert Corley and wife Christina of Arlington Heights, IL, and Scott Corley and wife Melissa of Glenview, IL; 12 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; daughter, Roberta Corley Daugherty; and brothers, Earl and Leonard Douthit.
