Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick, IL with Rev. Thomas W. Suey, Rev. Robert Russell and Rev. Derold Doughty officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Myers Cemetery, Herrick, IL. Memorials may be given to Mid-America Preparatory School (M.A.P.S.) Herrick, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL.
Mrs. Pope was born on January 9, 1919 in Tower Hill, IL, the daughter of Jesse and Gussie Biggs Clark. She married Harold Pope in St. Charles, MO on November 16, 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick, IL for 74 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Ladies Auxiliary President and “President of the Dolly Sisters Club”.
Surviving are her three children, Duane Pope (Lorena) of Mattoon, IL, Bruce Pope (Debbie) of Herrick, IL and Coral Dolan (Dan) of Herrick, IL; sisters, Beulah Cable of Shelbyville, IL and Alice Frailey of Herrick, IL; six grandchildren, Julie Daniels (Dustin) of Vandalia, IL, Matthew Pope (Kelly) of Mattoon, IL, Holly Lucas (Jeremy) of Herrick, IL, Tera Whalin (Adam) of Mattoon, IL, and Tim and Christian Dolan both of Herrick, IL; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold on January 12, 2002; parents; brothers, George, James and Floyd Clark; and sisters, Fleta Walker, Rose K. Clark, Verna Merriman and Adelaide Horn.
