Maurice Huber , 95, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Father Pawel Augustyniak as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 in the funeral home. Burial with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Industrial Arts Department at Shelbyville High School.

Maurice was born on July 23, 1926 to Harold Theodore and Lelah Margaret (Little) Huber in Shelbyville, IL. He was the third of three children. Maurice graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1944. He joined the Navy and served on the transport ship USS Hanover in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. After the war, Maurice worked as a carpenter and electrician for several years and built many houses in Shelby County. He also worked at Continental Bondware, which he retired from many years ago. Maurice married JoAnn Carroll West on February 21, 1992.  They were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville and enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing musical instruments, attending music shows and feeding the birds.  Maurice also enjoyed using his carpentry skills to help others.

Maurice is survived by his soulmate, JoAnn; sons, Robert Dale Huber of St. Augustine, FL, and William Dwane Huber and wife Karralee of Aurora, CO; step-daughters, Patty Jarnagin (Scott) and Jackie Forcum both of Shelbyville; step-son, Tim West of Cowden, IL; and sister-in-law, Wilda Huber of Peoria, IL. Maurice had nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews who were all dear to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elgin Huber; sister, Jean Butler (Otis); daughter-in-law, Pat Huber; and grandson, Ian West.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shelbyville Manor and his hospice nurses for his care.
