Maurine Robinson
(February 22, 1928 – April 04, 2016)
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 with Glenna Pruitt officiating in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Family graveside services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Lewis Cemetery, near Tuscola, IL. Memorials may be given to Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center, 225 East South First, Shelbyville IL 62565.
Maurine was born on February 22, 1928 in Clarksburg, Illinois, the daughter of Bona James and Martha Catherine Askins Smith. After graduating from Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, Maurine moved to Springfield, then Chicago Illinois and worked for a large publishing house. It was there she met and married Robert L. Robinson. In the early 1960s Maurine followed her brother James E. to California where she sold real estate under his brokerage. Returning home to Illinois, Maurine worked as a book keeper raising her two children as a single mother in the 70s, retiring in 1992 from the Canteen Corporation in Decatur Illinois.
Although Maurine enjoyed bowling and bingo, at different times in her life, her love centered around her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Rhonda Mary Robinson (Michael) of Columbia, TN and Robert Joseph “Robbie” Robinson of Decatur, IL; sisters, Juanita Kater (Gordon) of Shelbyville, IL, Betty Hudson (Delmar) of Cowden, IL and Wanda Pruitt (Gary) of White Hall, IL; eight grandchildren, Chris Robinson (Michelle), Jami Saunders (Jared), Sarah Robinson, Kelly Arwine (Ryan), Chelsea Leynes (Aaron), Hannah Keagle (Travis), Thomas Robinson (Cassidy) and Emily Smith (Matthew); 26 great grandchildren, Chase Robinson, Cole Robinson, Corrine Robinson, Zach Saunders, Zeke Saunders, Ben Saunders, Avalyn Saunders, Aarlyn Saunders, Bowen Saunders, Oliver Saunders, Pearl Taylor, Belle Taylor, Claire Taylor, Daniel Arwine, Jeffrey Arwine, Edik Arwine, Charlie Arwine, Trey Leynes, Emmett Leynes, Wyatt Leynes, Avery Keagle, Liam Keagle, Madison Keagle, Sawyer Robinson, Luciann Robinson and Harrison Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
She was welcomed into heaven by her beloved grandson Elijah Daniel Robinson, her parents and brothers, James E. Smith (Maxine) and Richard Smith (Beverly).
