Leonard Max Lape, 78, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Susan Burnett officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery, near Beecher City, IL. Memorials may be given to Rivers of Living Water Fellowship Church in De Soto, IL.

Max was born on October 17, 1939 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Delbert Max and Novella Jane (Dove) Lape. He owned and operated Lape Trucking in Shelbyville, IL. Max enjoyed raising cattle, horseback riding, deer hunting and motorcycle riding. He was a member of the Windsor Gun Club and Midwest Truckers Association and was affiliated with his daughter’s church, Rivers of Living Water Fellowship Church in De Soto, IL. He married Norma Uvanna Downs.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Pam Foor (Greg) of Shelbyville, IL, Jeff Lape (Michelle) of Newark, IL, Susan Burnett (Brad) of Hurst, IL, Angie Jesse (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL and Jana Durbin (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Beverly Fleshner of Shelbyville, IL, Sandra Owen (Dan) of Plainfield, IN, Arlene Roberts of Shelbyville, IL and Judy Atkinson of Shelbyville, IL; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gale Lape; granddaughter, Carlie Durbin; and grandson, Jason Navis.
