Maxine Smith

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
Maxine was born on January 2, 1927 in Sullivan, Illinois, the daughter of Lee John and Ada Pearl Rich Welton. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1325 of Shelbyville. She loved bowling, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She married James E. Smith on April 23, 1946.
Surviving are her husband, James E. Smith, Sr.; sons, Roger Smith and wife Donna of San Antonio, TX and James E. Smith, Jr. and wife Jean of Shelbyville; daughters, Cheryl Leigh and husband Bob and Patricia Johnston all of Shelbyville; sisters, Evelyn Johnston and Charlene Campbell both of Shelbyville and Ada Martz and husband Howard of Palermo, California; grandchildren, Kim, Michele, Tami, Alan, Lea, Jesse, Joseph and James; and great grandchildren, Samantha, Courtney, Chelsea, Sydney Jo, Mariah and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl, Cecil, Glen, Harold, Earl, Lee Jr. and Billy Welton; and sisters, Ruby Teed, Doris Hart and Irene Johnson.
