May Emma Hatfield, 96, of Shelbyville, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in her daughter’s home in Shelbyville.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Chautauqua Restoration Fund, Shelbyville, IL.

May was born on August 3, 1912 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Ruth Smith Fisher. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. She married Lawrence Leverett Hatfield on February 27, 1936 in Shelbyville. He died on October 8, 1981.

Surviving are her daughter, Patsy Stephens of Shelbyville; granddaughter, Ashley Kite and husband Mark of Shelbyville; great grandson, Sam Kite of Shelbyville; and brother, Clinton Fisher and wife Deloris of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ross and Ruth Fisher, Burl and Della Fisher and Ralph and Lorna Fisher; and one infant brother, Earl Fisher.
