Michael A. “Mike” Cummins , 70, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 4:53 a.m. Sunday, November 5, 2023 in his residence.

Mike was born on August 6, 1953, the son of Carl and Norma Jean (Gruber) Cummins in Melbourne, England.  He was a graduate of Lake Land College and later earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education and his Master’s degree in Administration both from Eastern Illinois University.  Mike spent many years in education and retired as the Okaw Valley Middle School Principal. He loved fishing, playing Strato and being with family and friends.  He married Michele McDonald on December 19, 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Michele; children, Angela (Craig) Fathauer of Moweaqua, IL, Christina (Chad) Cummins-Compton of Pana, IL, Courtney (Xavier) Cummins of Taylorville, IL,  Whitney (Dustin) Plummer of Belle, MO and Raymond (Rose Cloud) Cummins of Findlay, IL; brother, Bill (Kris) Cummins of Washington;   grandchildren, Aaron (Emily), Alyson (Marissa), Jasmine, Christian, Tanner, Bradley, Isabella, Evelyn, Clayton, Jayvn, Ary, Eva, Mia, and Zoey; and chosen family friends, Kevin and Brenda Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Cummins; father and step-mother, Carl and Jane Cummins; maternal grandparents, Leo and Florence Gruber, sister, Carla Cummins; daughter, Amber Kloever-Crockett; and granddaughter, Ashlee Houchins.

Per Mike’s wishes, there will be no services.  We, as a family, know he’d tell us not to worry, because he’ll send us a bill later. Memorial donations may be made to the family.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
