Michael Christopher Thomas, 36, of Shelbyville, died at 4:57 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 in Fayette County, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. David McHenry officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Children of Michael and Danielle Thomas Fund.

Mike was born on November 26, 1971 in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Virginia, the son of Edward and Jeanette P. Stewart Thomas. He graduated from Bethany High School in the Class of 1989. He served in the U. S. Army in Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War. Mike was a licensed plumber and worked for Curry Construction in Mattoon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He married Danielle Reed on April 29, 1998.

Surviving are his wife, Danielle; sons, Aaron Michael and Zachary Thomas both at home; daughters, Michaela and Miranda Thomas both at home; mother and step-father, Jeanette and Max Coleman of Shelbyville; father and step-mother, Edward and Carol Thomas of Toledo; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Debra Reed of Stewardson; sister, Heather Easton of Neoga; half-sister, Constance Ray of Windsor; step-sister, Carmen Pygott of Neoga; step-brothers, Greg Stokes of Portland, OR, Jeff Drum of Pana, Jim Coleman of Martinsville, Tony and Dustin Coleman both of Charleston and Patrick Coleman of Shelbyville; brother-in-law, Travis Reed and wife Anna of Shelbyville; and grandmothers, Pauline Stewart of Decatur and Billie Thomas of Cadiz, KY.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Rudolph Stewart and Floyd Thomas.
