Memorial graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, near Assumption, IL with Rev. David Beerbower officiating. Memorials may be given to Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Mike was born on May 9, 1948 in Shelby County, IL, the son of Vernon “Jiggs” and Alice R. (Bare) Helton. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1966 and served in the National Guard. Mike was a farmer and owner of D. J.’s Landscaping and Lawn Care in Moweaqua, IL. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption, IL and was a former leader of the Ful-O-Pep 4-H Club in Clarksburg, IL. He married Donna J. Hutchison on April 27, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Brandon Helton and wife Toni of Moweaqua, IL; step-son, Brett Brannon and wife Becky of Alhambra, IL; step-daughter, Dawn Brannon-Braun and husband Lee of Fishers, IN; brothers, Richard “Dick” Helton and wife Toni of Savoy, IL and Steve Helton and wife Linda of San Antonio, TX; and grandchildren, Tempe and Zane Helton both of Moweaqua, IL, Addison, Emma and Lauren Brannon all of Alhambra, IL and Haydn and Jack Braun of Fishers, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
