Mildred Marie Cole, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 in Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home, Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor David Beerbower and Pastor Ray Finney officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery near Assumption, Illinois. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Shelbyville or Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption.

Mildred was born on January 15, 1916 in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of August Henry and Ida Pearl LeGrand Schwenker. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1933 and graduated from beauty school in Decatur. She married Lloyd Wilson Cole on January 19, 1937 in Brazil, Indiana. They lived their entire married life in the Moweaqua and Shelbyville area. Mildred owned and operated the Monique Beauty Salon in Shelbyville. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelbyville.

Surviving are her daughters, Julia Johnston and husband Bill of Taylorville, Barbara Hunter and husband Carol of Rochester and Patsy Franz of Mattoon; son, Larry Cole and wife Linda of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Janell (Greg) McKinney, Brendt (Missy) Ramsey, Terry (Cathy) Hunter, Sherri (Henry) Dugger, Rusty Downs, Belinda (Jim) Woltmann, Kallene (Chris) Eaton, Nancy Cole, Larry Gus (Rhonda) Cole, Paula (Randy) Boston, Marsha (Ken) Reedy; and twenty-four great grandchildren. Her first two great great grandchildren are due this summer.

Mildred loved working in her yard and taking care of her flowers. She will be remembered as a devoted wife; mother; grandmother; and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd on September 20, 1998; brother, William Schwenker; and son-in-law, Eddie Franz.
