Monte A Mars

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home in Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Monte was born on May 27, 1938 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Kenneth Raymond and Rosland Jeanette Allison Mars. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1956. He then served in the U. S. Army and National Guard. Monte was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a printer at World Color Press in Effingham, IL until his retirement. Monte was a member of the Strasburg American Legion Post #289 and a former member of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge #484. He married Linda Lee Hudson on March 27, 1965.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Teresa Clark of Loxley, AL, Monte Mars, Jr. of Strasburg, IL, Michael Mars (Kim) of Surprise, AZ and Lisa Tinsman (Chris) of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Daryl Mars (Julie) of Shelbyville, IL; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Jessica, Dominic, Allison, Ashley, Matthew, Caleb and Bryden; eight great grandchildren; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kenna Raye Mars.
