Myrna J Streeter

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. John Hollis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham, IL.
Myrna was born August 23, 1934 in Endicott, NY, the daughter of Leonard and Vivian Mooney Carr. She proudly served in the Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Then, Myrna earned a B.S. in Education from State University of New York at Buffalo. She also attended Belleville Junior College and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She was a K-12 teacher in Evansville and Wadesville, IN and O’Fallon and Okawville, IL. She was a member of the 4th Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, IL. Myrna was known as being a passionate volunteer, and a lover of animals. She also had a talent for crafts and painting. She married William H. Streeter on July 6, 1985 and he preceded her in death on August 8, 2008.
Myrna is survived by her son Michael Crabtree (Robin) of Shelbyville; a sister, Carole Poage (Len) of Orlando, FL; nieces Lisa, Denise, and Barrie “Bunny”; and special friends Sandi Lowry, Jean Thomas, Barb Thomas, Vi Ohlemeier and Vince Picciano.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill.
