Myrtle Lucille Holthaus , 88, of Shelbyville, formerly of Pana, IL, passed away at 4:14 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, in the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Tim Yankee and Rev. Randy Miller officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL.  Memorials may be given to Knobs Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Gideons International, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the donor’s choice.

Lucille was born at home on October 4, 1935 at Tower Hill (Shelby County), IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (Barringer) Weeks.  She attended rural grade schools and then graduated from Assumption High School in 1953.  She married Carl Holthaus on April 11, 1959 in Assumption, IL.  Lucille was a homemaker and also worked at Reynold’s Market in Tower Hill, County Market in Pana, IL and McDonald’s and the Daily Union, both in Shelbyville, IL.  Lucille served as an election judge for 31 years, and enjoyed being an Assistant Cub Scout Leader while her boys were in scouting. She was an active member of Knobs Baptist Church near Tower Hill, IL and the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, IL and a former member of the Tower Hill Home Extension Club.

She is survived by her sons, Brian Keith Holthaus of Assumption, IL and Kenneth Joseph Holthaus of Pana, IL; step-son Billie Jo Holthaus of Pana, IL; brother, Eldon Weeks and wife Cheryl of rural Assumption, IL; sister-in-law, Janis Herbord of Assumption, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; brother, Roger Weeks; and sister, Rose Ellen McPeek.
