Nadine Frances McCabe, 93, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 1:23 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Evansville, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Joel Gray and Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Nadine was born on August 22, 1924 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Emanuel Francis and Emma Elizabeth Ditzler Clay. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1941. Nadine was a secretary for George Bolinger at Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. for 40 years and then was a secretary at Shelby Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Marion, IL and a former member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL. Nadine enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Quilting Ladies at the Senior Center in Marion, IL. She also volunteered her time and computer skills at the Shepherd’s Closet in Marion, IL. She married Albert Elmer McCabe on September 26, 1942 in Shelbyville, IL. He died on June 27, 1997.

Nadine is survived by her sons, Danny McCabe of Houston, TX and Glen McCabe (Pam) of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Carla Haas (David) of Marion, IL and Marla Squires (Charles) of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Eva Roberts of Shelbyville, IL: grandchildren, Danny McCabe, Jr. (Kelly), Tina Hoehn (Pat), Jeremy McCabe, Jason McCabe (Danica), Aaron Dunn (Michelle), Kyle Dunn (Stacey), Chris Squires (Emily), Matthew Squires (April) and Jennifer Amsehler (Joe); and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; daughter-in-law, Kay McCabe; brother, Gale Clay; and sister, Ruby Ballard (Charles).
