Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville or the Food Pantry of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
Nancy was born on October 12, 1938 in Shelbyville, IL the daughter of Leroy F. and Gladys L. (Stockdale) Griffith. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1956. Nancy began working for Capital Airlines in New York and Chicago. She later worked in the Admissions Department of Shelby Memorial Hospital and retired in December 2000 as a receptionist for Dr. Heckler and Dr. Brown in Shelbyville. Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, where she sang in the Chancel and Vesper Choirs, played in and directed the handbell choir, accompanied and directed the Wesley Singers, and worked on many committees. She also played in the Queen City Municipal Band for many years and was president of the Band Boosters Club for several years. She married George H. Stranc on June 1, 1958. He died on December 25, 2016.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathleen L. (Joe) Vano of Maryville, IL; son, Roger L. Stranc of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Elaine (Bob) Hagan of Shelbyville, IL; step-grandson, Stephen M. Vano; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; and step-father, Jack Kensil, Jr.
