Mom was born on May 21, 1944 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Walter Stanley and Ruby Grace Killam Wheat. She was baptized in the Kaskaskia River as a teenager and again later in life in Lake Shelbyville for good measure. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1962. She attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and loved to talk to anyone about her Savior. She also loved NASCAR and unfortunately was a big Jeff Gordon fan. She was a very giving person. I once saw her go home barefoot after taking off her new purple tennis shoes and giving them to someone who liked them. She loved animals and had many beloved pets over the years. Blacky, Pudge and Miss Kitty will greatly miss all her love and treats and I will miss our long telephone conversations and shopping trips. She married James Joseph “Jim” Hostetler on June 24, 1962. He died on May 15, 2013.
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Hostetler of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Larry (Janet) Wheat of Atlanta, GA; Lewis (Dorothy) Wheat of Spring Hill, KS and Leroy (Euna) Wheat of Shelbyville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years and her parents.
