Nancy (Cannon) McDonald, 79, of Tower Hill, died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 in Heritage Manor, Pana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 in Tower Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation from 4:00-7:30 p.m. Sunday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Eastern Star Rites at 7:30 p.m. by Arcana Chapter #493 of Pana, IL. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Gideon’s International or Cunningham Children’s Home, 1301 N. Cunningham Ave., Urbana, IL 61802.

Nancy was born on February 9, 1932 in Tower Hill, IL, the daughter of Lester Cloyd and Josephine Christman Cannon. She was a graduate of Tower Hill High School. Nancy was the secretary for Shelbyville Community Unit School District #4 until her retirement. She also served as the treasurer for Tower Hill for eight years. She was a member of Tower Hill United Methodist Church, Gideon’s Auxiliary and Arcana Chapter #493 of the Order of Eastern Star in Pana, IL. She married Curtis Elwin McDonald on November 26, 1988.

Surviving are her husband, C.E. McDonald; sons, Robert Thompson and wife Pam of McMinnville, TN and Kenneth Thompson and wife Rhea of Farmington, NM; daughters, Laurie Sewell and husband Charles of Baxter, TN and Karen Rodgers Hogan and husband David of Phoenix, AZ; step-sons, David McDonald and wife Alice of Tower Hill, IL and Darrell McDonald and wife Amy Carol of Lakewood, IL; step-daughters, Jeanette Nacke and husband Jim of Charleston, IL, Norma Walters and husband Mike of Cowden, IL and Amy Jo Flaig and husband Scott of Bloomington, IL; four grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and eleven step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, JoAnne Purdue.
