Nancy Roberts Durning
(March 24, 1921 – November 30, 2008)
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation from 11:00-11:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the following organizations: Chris Barker Memorial Scholarship Fund, 200 W. Nancy was born on March 24, 1921 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of George and Mabel (Bivins) Roberts, and grew up in Shelbyville, IL. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1939 and Mills College, Oakland, CA in 1942. Nancy married Richard Durning on August 14, 1948. They moved to Arizona in 1955. Together they had two beautiful daughters Anne and Tooey. Nancy was a homemaker and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was a member of the Antelope Hills Niners and was involved in many local bridge marathons. In the past years, she was a volunteer for the girl scouts organization in Phoenix, AZ. She was proudest of her family and the love that they shared.
She is survived by her daughters, Anne W. Durning of Laveen, AZ and Tooey D. Thorn and husband Stuart E. of Prescott, AZ; and many grand pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 1995; and brother, George Roberts in 1970.
