Neva E Buesking

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to E.A.S.T.E.R. (Effingham Area Special Teaching In Religion), St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or S.C.A.N. (Strasburg Community Action Fund). Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.
Neva was born on January 5, 1921 to Herman and Elizabeth Ruppel Diepholz in Strasburg, IL. She was baptized on January 17, 1921 by Rev. C. F. Keller. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 25, 1934 by Rev. L. Stuebe. Neva remained a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL. She married Carl Buesking on January 23, 1940 in the parsonage of Rev. Stuebe. Carl and Neva were married for 64 ½ years.
Neva was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, holding various offices in each. She was a member of the choir for many years, attended weekday ladies Bible study classes and participated in the Pause for Peace Ministry. Neva was a student of the Bible and a hospital volunteer for many years. Carl and Neva were farmers and avid sports fans.
She leaves two nephews, Steve and Greg Baumgarten both of Stewardson, IL; two nieces, June Davis and husband Floyd of Red Lion, PA and Janet Manhart and husband Fred of Stewardson, IL; eight “special grandchildren”, Hannah, Natalie, Samantha and Kendra Hayes and Austin, Jordan, Ellie and Edie Wittenberg; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl, on July 11, 2004; two sisters, Lorene Baumgarten and Mildred Diepholz; brother, Melvard Diepholz; and niece, Jean Baumgarten.
