Noble “Wayne” Mars , 75, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 12:12 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.  Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Booster Foundation.

Wayne was born on June 11, 1946 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Noble Francis and Lina Emogene “Jean” (Harvey) Mars.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1964 and attended Sparks Business College in Shelbyville.  Wayne then served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War.  Wayne married Judith Warner in 1968. His entire work career was centered on the auto parts business.  Wayne began working at Dust and Sons in Mattoon and later worked at Big A Auto Parts, A to Z Auto Parts (Co-owner), Shelby Farm Pride and Fisher Auto Parts all in Shelbyville.  In 1982, Wayne married Mindy Frederick.  Wayne enjoyed old cars, Elvis music, coaching Little League Boys Baseball and Girls Softball in Shelbyville and spending time with his grandkids.    He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Shelbyville Rams.

He is survived by his children, Jason Mars (Christy) of Nixa, MO, Jeanne Elizabeth “Betsy” Hicks of Shelbyville, IL, Jonathon Mars (Amanda) of Neoga, IL and Mary JoEllen Mars (Connor McNeely-Short) of Shelbyville, IL; three grandchildren, Emily Hicks (Cody Rodman), Jarrett Mars, and Kyndall Mars; brothers, Larry Mars (Alice) of Neoga, IL and Keith Mars of Cowden, IL; sister, Judy Brown (Mark) of Pana, IL; and special friend, Kenneth “Cork” Hagan of Shelbyville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judith; second wife, Mindy; brother, David Mars; and infant sister, Kathy Mars.
